I took another leap of faith today. I wish these leaps didn't cost me money but this one did. I'm hoping its a wise investment. only time will tell. I decided that in addition to me learning how picture books are created, it would be helpful to go back and learn how to draw properly. I have very little training in actual 'art'. I'm mostly self taught but where I find myself struggling is with the technique of art and technique is taught. Trial and error takes too much time. I know its a good way to learn but, right now, with my time constraints, I need a more direct route to get where I need to go.
So, I found a basic drawing course from The Great Courses. I have bought quite a few lectures from Great Courses for Joshua. Its a way to bring learning to us rather than us to the classes. This time, I ordered a course for me. It looks intense and in depth. With lots of hands on. I can only think that learning how to draw correctly will strengthen my art across the boards. I'm hoping this isn't me liking to learn and is actually needed information that will move me forward faster rather than hold me back.
Next big step is getting a structured day that will give Joshua and me equal time for our work. Balance seems to be one of my life lessons. How to make it all fair and equal. So far, we do the teeter-totter and, occasionally, we end up giving each other hard bumps.
