Its been a while since I kept up with the websites and they should be the one thing I keep active and vibrant. I decided that Joshua's journey in writing deserves some attention. ourhomestudio is Josh's art website. It's geared mostly to him and occasionally me when I have artwork available. But its mostly his. His journey in learning how to talk, and write, is intersting. And I can use that journey to inform, entertain, and gain followers for both Josh and me.
I have a book that will be out before Jan. 1st (if it don't rain and the crick don't rise) and Joshua will be looking for an agent. So starting now makes sense. I intend to post weekly. Probably on Sunday's since that seems to be the most reliable day for me to update social media on. I want to add video and podcasting as I get time. I want to learn how to set up camera angles and then put pictures with audio.
More and more, social media is leaning toward visuals as well as just reading. I want to make the websites visually interesting as well as audio. At some point, I want to offer my books on audio but I'm not ready to focus on that. I still have hope of being picked up by a publisher. But if not, I'll learn to do it myself.
Just posting here to make myself accountable. I need to use a cattle prod once in a while to get me moving in the right direction.

I'm so glad you posted this! I need to do some work on my websites. My goal is to have them ready to go by Oct 1. That means I need to spend some time on them next week. And I need to make them a priority each week. They're just so easy for me to ignore, but then again I'm not using them yet. Hopefully once I get people to them that will be the kicker I need to keep up with them. I can only hope!
I got very little writing done the last two days. I want to have my mystery done by the end of the weekend. I have a shot, but I need to be productive tomorrow. It's my top priority for the day. My hope is to finish the rough draft by Sunday, then do a rewrite next week. I've tried to keep the first draft as clean as possible. I want to try Wesley's approach with this story - write it, get it to a beta reader, rewrite and off it goes. It will depend on how clear the mystery element comes through. I may have to do major rewrites if I've screwed it up.

That's sort of the system Stephan King used. He wrote his stories and fired them off. As soon as they were out of his hands he wrote more. When the rejections came in he stabbed them onto a nail or something he had in his room. He didn't think about success, or failure, just productivity. Josh is feeling better and he's in his chair more. This means we're starting to get a schedule that functions. Although a cable on his chair broke and that may slow us down until we get it fixed.
I talked to Kathy today and I think I'll be in Kansas the first week of Oct. I'll be in Emporia Monday to Thursday and then back to KC on Thursday through Sunday night and head home on the 10th. She has chemo on the 11th. so I want to visit with her before then.
I hope your visit with Susan was fun. I miss her so much and I never seem to take time to stop. Mostly because I'm afraid of big city traffic.

2 chapters edited today. I will continue to edit. I got the analytics running on both websites and Joshua's website has been updated. I need to update my author website. and then I need to write in a weekly reminder so I get work done. I'm determined to get the edit finished before I head for Kansas in Oct.
Josh's wheelchair broke so I have to take time on Tuesday to drive to Lombard to the wheelchair place. They can't get here before Oct. 5th. I need it done before Oct. 2nd. so Josh and I will bite the bullet and brave the city traffic. In the meantime, we're seriously inconvenienced.
Joshua wants to paint today. So he'll work on the roses. We'll continue to customize his tobii. He's only got two more speech sessions. I'm not sure if he will get any more. It depends on the insurance.
I need to do some mundane housework today. Not my favorite thing to do but necessary if I want to keep doing the other stuff.

My brain is sluggish. I'm trying to figure out what to update my author website with. I want a topic I can add a visual to. or an audio. I'd love to do a short podcast. Like less than 3 minutes.

After visiting with Kathy and Sharon last weekend Susan and I talked about how nice that was. We see them at family events but there are so many people there we don't get to spend much time with any one person. It was the same when I came to Marylin's and got to visit with you guys. I can probably come to Emporia again when you are here if you have an open day. I have another interview on Tuesday but at this point no job yet. I'm not in a hurry as I'm enjoying my time of focused writing, but I know I can't do this forever. At least not yet. I've written two chapters today. I probably have two or three chapters left to write to finish the rough draft. Part of me wants to plow through and get it done today, but I have a friend who wants to go see a movie. I'm torn. I'm judging at a debate tournament tomorrow and I'm sure my kids are coming some. I'm afraid the time will get away and I won't finish. I know, I could just finish it on Monday, but I've set my mind on finishing this weekend. Oh, the joys of being obsessive.

Talk about the struggles of creating when your mind doesn't cooperate. You're braver than I am. I hate hearing my own voice and don't have a desire to ever do a podcast.
