After several tries I finally got action with Mom's publishers this week.
I e-mailed a request to cancel her contract for Trapped on a Cloud and asked for a copy of the high resolution book file. They said it takes up to thirty days to process the cancellation and another twenty-one to send the file. I'm okay with waiting - at least it's all in process now.
I also finally got a response from the publisher of Legend of the Aneeka. She said her book has been out of print since 2009 and they don't have a copy of her material any longer since it was so long ago. I asked about the book I saw advertised on Amazon and she said it must be coming from an unauthorized third party. Sometimes they advertise books they don't have then try to obtain a copy if they get an order.
I've weeded through the Word files I have for Legend (and there were many!) and found what I think is at least close to the final product. I'm reading through it to get it ready to print. I'll then need to get a cover made. I want to be ready so once the cover is done I'm ready to publish it. That means I have a lot of research to do and I need to get her website ready. I'm going to see Susan next weekend so I want to have a lot of this ready to talk to her about it.
Then I'll be ready to publish Trapped on a Cloud when I get the files in a couple of months. This is quickly getting real - and overwhelming! And exciting!

You're lucky to have a ms. to work with so quickly. I can see why they need the time to withdraw the ms. I had an issue with Amazon when I put my books on Kindle Prime or unlimited or whatever its called. I took it down from all the places I put it but I didn't realize that Smashwords had put it on KOBO. I didn't have any authorization to take it off KOBO so I had to get Smashwords to do it and it took far longer than I expected. It really messed up my time line. But for what you're doing, the time line is what it is.
I am so happy that Phyllis's books are being given new life. They are good stories. I bought up as many copies as I could. I might have a couple of extra ones. I'll have to look and see.

I would love to have at least one more copy of the original. I found the copy Mom signed to Sydney but cannot find my copy. I've been so discouraged! I think it has to be around somewhere but I've looked everywhere I can think of.
Once we get these two books out we'll look at publishing other writings of hers. She has at least three complete stories I know of, plus some short stories and poems. That will take some time so sift through and gather. I'm on no timeline for her writings. I'd guess as I get more comfortable I get with the publishing process the faster I'll get them out.

The first one is the hardest because, if you're like I was, I didn't know enough to even know what questions to ask or what issues I'd have to deal with. I publihsed before I was ready simply because I knew having a product would teach me so much more than I could learn by reading about it.
I'll look for my copies. I'm sure I've got a few extra.
