They have read and critique sessions where they read your first page aloud and then comment on it. Whole things takes five minutes so it's not in-depth but informative. It would be great if you would go again. Of course, I'm still holding out hope I'll be a presenter. Will know next month.
I found out yesterday I got a story accepted in their next anthology. Received this yesterday:
Dear Bill,
We are pleased to extend an invitation to include "Something About Mary" in Pikes Peak Writers third anthology, JOURNEYS INTO POSSIBILITY!
If you accept, the next steps are:
• Editor Debby Brewer, will contact you via email to discuss edits. Please be prepared to expect edits. Our goal is to not only produce the best anthology possible, but to also help you become a better writer too!
• We'll provide information about contracts and licensing rights once we hear back from you.
• Please confirm that you're "in" by sending an email to anthology@pikespeakwriters.com, and we'll get going!
CONGRATULATIONS!

That is wonderful. I'm really considering going. I'll go over to the site and see when the registration opens. I'd really like to have the new story critiqued. First page is better than nothing. I'm thinking of taking Jessica with me and she can be with joshua and take care of him which would allow me to attend the conference by myself and really concentrate on getting as much out of the experience as possible.
It would be so cool if you could get on the presenter side. I'd love to be there to see it.

I got nothing accomplished this week. I've been sick and basically in bed all week. Apparently I got food poisoning from somewhere and it kicked my butt. I've kept foot down yesterday and today and have rested so hopefully I'm better and will be back at it tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure you've already been informed about Marilyn. She is in hospice and I really don't expect her to last long. Rhonda is down with Covid. Joshua and I are just out of Covid. Drew and Lindsey stopped by yesterday. Lindsey stayed masked but Drew didn't. Marilyn was sent home with Covid and I'm pretty sure that Larry also had it. For Josh and me, we've had worse colds. The symptoms were controllable and we didn't feel that bad. Just tired.
Bill is coming in today. I'm sorry you got food poisoning. I hate vomiting and you probably did your share of it. I haven't gotten much done this last ten days either. Just trying to get healthy and be with Marilyn as much as I can. She's so confused. Breaks my heart. She's so ready to go and keeps asking why we don't help her. I think she's talking to the ones who went ahead. She keeps saying, You told me you would help me. I get the feeling that its a timing thing. There is still something that needs done and then she'll be ready.

Marilyn will most likely pass tonight or tomorrow. Larry is hoping she will last into next week simply because Bill has his surgery on Tuesday and Rhonda will be in Charleston until Sat.
I haven't gotten any work done and next week I'll be getting things ready for the Roth Thanksgiving dinner on the 6th. Not sure if you are on the family page. We didn't get emails or letters sent out. Simply posted it on the family page. We plan on eating at 1pm at the community center in Cottonwood Falls. Its very disorganized due to our preoccupation with Marilyn in hospice.
I'll let you know more when I know more.

Rhonda called yesterday to update me on Marilyn. I'm at Susan's and plan to stop in Emporia on my way home, at least let Larry know we're thinking about him. Susan just finished her radiation and doesn't think she should expose herself to too many people until her immunity rebuilds. I saw something a while back about the Thanksgiving but had forgotten about it. I'll see if I can make it.
I received my edits for my anthology story last week. I made some changes and sent it back. I don't know if that's it or if the editor will want to make more changes, but everything is supposed to be done by the end of the year.
HTTS - I put together scene cards for my Christmas story and wrote the first couple of scenes. I plan to return to it in December.
The Christmas Parade Miracle - I've been sitting on these files for a year and finally uploaded them last week. I'm waiting on the proof copy.
Death's Inside Scoop - Cat sent me the files so I uploaded them and am waiting on the proof.
Mystery 5 - I plan to write the rough draft for NaNoWriMo. I did a little brainstorming this week and will start writing on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to getting back to creating in this world.

Christmas Parade Miracle - I received the proof copy, approved, and ordered copies.
Death's Inside Scoop - I received the proof copy, approved, and ordered copies plus more copies of the other books. I had sold most of them at the last arts and crafts festival.
Halstead Mystery 5 - I started writing this as part of Nano. I'm at 9.604 words for November so far.
Something About Mary - Made my final edits and returned. I think I'm done until it's ready to be released.
I plan to come to the graveyard service on Wednesday.

Nano - I finished the week at 17,826 words. I'm about a day or two behind on words so in good shape overall. I've split time on mystery 5 and my Christmas story. Right now the Christmas story is flowing but will bounce back and forth as ideas come.
Christmas Parade Miracle - I received the books last week.
Death's Inside Scoop - I receive my books today.

Sharon is at Rhonda's until the day before Thanksgiving. I'm enjoying peace and quiet. Josh and Jessica got outdoor decorations up. I'm happy to let them do it. I'm going to do a table at the old school on the saturday after Thanksgiving. We can put anyting on the tables we want. If you want to put books there, that would be great. I'll put some prints and baked goods and anything else I can think of. It's a start.

I'm making a Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. Hoping Larry will come. Ron and Nita will be in Texas. I'm going to be gathering as many items as I can for the table because the time is short and I'm not prepared but I'm going to do it anyway.

Sydney arrives tomorrow and flies home on Thursday and then I'm going to KC on Friday. Hopefully will see Drew and Lindsey while I'm up there.
NaNo - I'm at 29,401 words. I'm not much behind but I feel like every word is effort and I'm fighting to have time to write. I don't know if I will win this year or not.

I've spent a lot more time planning my Christmas Story than writing. I'm not going to win NaNo this year and I've known it for almost a week. I was close enough I could have pushed through but I've been tired, down, emotionally and mentally empty, and struggling with my creativity. I decided I needed to slow down and not worry about it - give up on NaNo. And it turns out I did some brainstorming with Sydney on Tuesday and then with Susan and Cole on Friday and it seemed like yesterday and today especially parts of my story stated coming to me. I will focus on writing it in December and see if I can make my way through the rough draft before the new year.
Had a great weekend! Hung out with Drew and Lindsey yesterday and that was a lot of fun. Of course, spent the weekend at Susan's so that's always a good time. Lindsey and I are going to Zoom and she's going to get me started with Facebook ads, something I've needed to figure out for a long time. It's time to jump in, I guess.
I completely forgot to bring books by on Friday for the event on Saturday. Sorry! I remembered on my drive to KC. I hope you had a good time and sold some things. It's a great time of year for these type of events. I have one next weekend in Sedgwick. I did well last year at it so hopefully can repeat.

We had a good sale. sold out all the goodies except 4 bags of peanut clusters. Josh sold about 20 notecards and I sold two books. threw in the third one for the promise of a review. I don't know if they will do it but its a chance. And if they like the books maybe they will do some word of mouth recommending.
Thanksgiving was really nice. Larry came and Jeff came. The food was good an plentiful. The games and laughter helped a lot. I'm glad you got to spend time with Drew and Lindsey. I want them to stay close to the family as well as you and Susan and all your kids. Sharon had a really good time in Colorado and came home more energized than I'd seen her. More herself.
Connie and Margo are going through health issues. Abbey is enjoying KU. Chalino is set to go to Junior college. He's looking forward to it. Jocelyn has two months to go before the baby arrives. We are holding a baby shower for her on Saturday.
I haven't gotten much done creatively but quite a bit with getting projects lined up and ready to work on. I haven't even begun to think of Christmas.
I never do Nano because it always ends up feeling forced to me. Getting a rough draft before the 1st seems resonable.
I need structure and I intend to get it.
