Looks like the event is hosted by: The Town Crier. I found a newspaper article from 2017: www.emporiagazette.com/news/article_dbdfeb91-84a4-5f81-a895-aa8d96996635.htmltowncrier@sbcglobal.net this is the email address I had from my correspondence when I was thinking of joining in. Might not hurt to email and ask if there is going to be an event this year in June. And if so, what the requirements are to get in on it. In the past it gets pretty good foot traffic.

Earth - The first box of books arrived on my birthday. What a present! I have more coming - many more. Now to get to work selling them. Which I sold my first copy this morning at church. A friend there bought copies of both Vetrix and Earth. I should probably spend a little time this week brainstorming marketing ideas and book signing possibilities. I have three scheduled and more contacts I can make. Need to organize this so I keep at it and don't forget contacts.
When the Time is Right - I'm not sure I didn't anything this week, unless finished reading through the editor's notes leaked into this week. But as I said in the other post, tomorrow I'm spending as much time as I need to make a revision plan - a list of what I want to accomplish in the process. Then on Tuesday it's to work on the revision. I want to finish the revision and have a query letter done, ideally by the end of January, but we'll see how much work I'll have. I'll take as much time as needed. I want to present it at PPWC and consider sending out the letter to agents, depending on how it turns out.
So Many Thoughts, So Little Time - That's the name of my newspaper column. The one thing I got done this week was putting together in one document my first 100 columns. Cat is working on a cover. April will mark five years for me to write the column in the paper, so I'm going to publish a book of my first 100 columns, which I reached a couple of months ago. I want this out by April. I'm going to donate $1 for each book sold, and any profit I make (which I don't expect to sell enough to make a profit, but I'm also not doing this book for profit but for exposure).
Also this week I want to finalize my goals for next year. I'm not sure I've cleaned up what I started in the other post.

I need to make a list of to-do items for Knock Knock. I know I need to locate the address of the formatter I used with Cosmic Chaos. I've forgotten the name so I'll have to look it up.
I know, once I have a final word count, I'll have to contact the cover artist and have her finish the cover. She needs to know how wide to make the binding. It is a simple job and shouldn't take long to do. I'm not sure if she will charge me an extra fee or if it's part of the original cover purchase.
I can't know the final word count until it goes through the editing process. I hope I can get in the line up without a long wait.
I also need to contact Cory Crumrine and see if they want me to proceed with Kay's story. If so, I will lay that out and get my scene cards made. The actual writing shouldn't take more than one or two weeks. It's probably not going to go over 10,000 words, if that. The photos are what will make the story. I hope they can be cleaned up enough to use. If not, I may end up having to illustrate. One part of me hates that idea because illustrating takes way longer to do than the actual writing. One part of me likes the idea because I can get some much needed practice on the process and I need all the practice I can get as well as illustration credits. I guess this is one project God will decide on. I'm not even sure they want to move forward with it but I'm thinking they will do it simply because it was Kay's dream for it to be done.
Joshua needs a log line, polish query letter, (its close to ready just needs youtube video link) a book proposal, a series proposal which he might not even need, and a sample of the book. I need to remember what Adobe program to use, I think Jacob recommended InDesign but I'm not sure. I'll have to do some hunting.
At my age, most people are thinking about retirement and what they no longer have to do and here I am piling project on top of project and having so much fun doing it.

I think what is important at any age is to do what we are passionate for. You are definitely doing that! Plus, it's the first time in decades you've focused on yourself and pursued your desires. It's exciting!
Cat asked me a week or two ago if I had considered doing hand-drawn art for the covers, or doing a handful of line-art drawings for the books. Not that you need anything more to do, but is that something you would be interested in doing? We have three stories of Mom's to get published. I'm on no timeline so that isn't any issue on our end.

Its something I can't visualize. If there is no time line yet for them maybe we can discuss it in April so I can see what you are thinking of. I need to have projects to work on so I can gain experience. I don't know if I can provide what you need if I can't see the project in my mind. I would love to have some part in getting Phyllis's work published. She had asked me to illustrate one of them and I did a bit of work but I could never quite get a handle on it. Maybe now that I'm getting more training I can do more.

The three stories are:
1) Ghosts in the Quarry - Quintuplets discover a ghost in the rock quarry 2) Fairies in the House (Phansas) - A brother and sister discover fairies and help them set up a democracy instead of having a king or queen 3) The Place Between - A boy dies and with the help of three new friends helps free a group of enslaved children in the place betwee death and afterlife.
I haven't read these stories for a few years, so I can't provide too much detail at this point. The above is a brief description in case you happen to be familiar with any of the stories. I'll talk to Susan this week. I think it would be special to have you involved in at least one of the projects. I can also send a copy of the manuscript some time if that would help.

I think the one she wanted me to illustrate was Fairies in the House. I'd have to look at it to see. I also need to search my computer drive to see if I have anything of hers that you might not. I doubt it but it won't hurt to look.

Yes, please look. We had dozens of disk drives but not all the files were in formats we were able to see. I think she wrote a lot more we may never get to read.

I followed the link for the book signing in Emporia. It's from a 2014 newspaper article. I found another article in 2015 that said the store was closing. I sent an e-mail but don't expect it will get through to anyone.
Yep, the message came back undeliverable.
I've done some research today into differen comic cons in Kansas - Salina, Wichita, Kansas City, Hutchinson, Manhattan. The fees run from $120 to $250 for a vendor booth. I'll probably try a couple for the exposure and to see what happens. I will have to sell a lot of books, though, to make it financially worth it.

We are leaving Susan's in a hour or so to go home. I don't know if I'll be online again today so am going to post my weekly progress now.
When the Time is Right - I got through about 15 scenes making some minor adjustments. I'm working on a major plot issues now. My goal is to fix one major issue a week. I want to get this one done by the end of Monday. And any other minor issues I can work on during the next two days I'll do as bonus. I don't have much going on the next two days so should be able to get some work done before I have to return to work.
Earth - I have a few copies that I am addressing to those who helped me get the story ready - proofreadser, beta readers, etc. The book is online and I am waiting for my order to come in, which is scheduled to be here before my next book signing on Jan 13.
Markting - I found a few comic cons in Kansas. They aren't cheap to enter as a vendor, but I think I'll try a couple just to see what kind of reaction I get. I don't expect to make money, but if I can come close to making my entry fee back and gain exposure, then it might be worth doing more in the future. I also need to organize my booksigning schedule and keep making contacts. Maybe I can get that done in the next couple of days too.

I signed up for a character drawing course. Working toward gaining enough skill to create a comic strip. Or help me illustrate picture books. Any type of drawing increases my skill level and it's online which means I can take it at my own speed.
Your goals sound do-able and concrete. I've never been to a comic con. Richard went to a big SF/Fantasy con when Dungeons and Dragons was popular. He enjoyed it a lot and came home with lots of stuff. signed posters of cover art and books by some of the popular authors of that genre. You might really enjoy them. I picture chaos with large crowds and me not knowing how to fit in. I would like to go to an ALA conference. Rhonda goes to them and can get guests in on a guess pass that doesn't cost much. I have no idea what it would cost to set up there but the exposure would be awesome. I wanted to go when it was in Chicago but I chickened out. I just can't handle Chicago traffic.
