When Cosmic Shift was coming out I created some audio readings and put them on my author website. My grandson, JJ, read them faithfully and waited impatiently for more. I don't know if he really liked hearing the story or if he just liked hearing me read it. I used Soundcloud for the audio and I didn't do a very good job. I hadn't learned about podcasting. And the free sites that are available to use for editing content before publishing.
I still think audio readings and podcasting is a viable method for marketing. I created a blog site on blogger as a place where I could play, and practice. I use it for my music and photography but the real purpose is to get comfortable using sites like audacity and youtube to create video and audio content. I don't advertise blogger. Its simply a place I go to entertain myself and see how the things I play at can be developed to help me attain skills that will help me on the business side of writing and art.
I started sharing Joshua's communication journey. I'm fascinated watching him go from being a non-verbal, intelligent adult to an educated, ambitious, VERBAL adult. I find it interesting. And inspiring. A way to share with the world a miraculous occurrence in our lives. I tagged tobii/dynavox to let them know what I was doing and we established a connection. They share Josh's video clips. They bought some of his art and it is displayed in the corporate office. Joshua is getting seen to a larger audience than I am, or can.
In addition to these shared clips, I'm trying to figure out how to create a one hour work shop that Josh and I can offer at writing workshops and possibly speak to groups with. I'll probably have to develop two separate talks. One for teaching, and one for sharing. Different venues require different approach. My goal is to get behind the table at the workshops. Establish my credentials as a professional author and speaker. I uploaded a workshop proposal at the Pikes Peak website. Its been there for two years. I updated it a few months ago. They usually pick their work shops in the fall. I haven't heard from them so I'm most likely over looked once again. I need to create and post videos on you tube so I can gain visibility and show a little bit about what I plan for the presentation. Create an interest in the topic.
I'm also thinking of creating a one-hour webinar that can be subscribed to. I don't quite know how this works but I would have it on my author website with payment made through PayPal. I'm thinking maybe a $5.00 one time fee. To charge this I would have to make sure the content was worth the subscription price. This would be in line with my attempt to create multiple streams of income. Lots, and by lots I'm thinking a dozen or so, streams of income bringing in small amounts can add up to a reasonable monthly income.
I will continue to develop these ideas and my goal is to have content up before the end of the year. My problem has been camera angles. In the ones already available I had a second person helping. Now I'll have to figure out how to use the tripod and figure out where we stand. Then I'll have to learn how to splice multiple scenes into one cohesive package. For youtube, I'm looking for 1-3 minute clips. Podcasting can be longer. and podcasting can be published to Apple store. again, a possible stream of income. I just have to figure out what I can podcast on that is valuable enough to sell and interesting enough to listen to.
I'll add to this thread as ideas occur to me that fit the subject.
