I seem to come up with really interesting dreams. A few days ago, I woke up with the idea of holding a one day a month craft/art sale in my driveway. I stopped by the city office to see if I needed a permit and how expensive that might be. Found out they don't require a permit for that. I'm planning to start doing this in April. It gives us all winter to create inventory and ways to display items. I don't want it to look like a garage sale. I want it to look like a high-end art sale. We can hand out brochures about the artist, items that we provide. Upcoming shows that we plan on attending. I've even thought of a couple of swag items that I don't see everywhere. Free gift for larger sale items. I feel like it could turn into something that people will begin to look forward to attending. I'll need to be consistent and keep the same weekend so people can start marking it down as a place to check out every month for new items.
I'm spending today getting two more weeks of writing to put on my ko.fi.com site. Ideally I'd like to stay six to eight weeks in advance.
I hope your surgery goes well and you get a good visit with Susan and your Dad.

thank you for the update. I knew you'd handle the pain. Enjoy the family time. As far as the monthly sale day, i'm no worse off than I am now. I forgot that my ko.fi.com site went live today. I need to get busy making it visible. I spent all week hunting for some missing chapters but found them this morning so back to work on that.

Awesome numbers. Glad you're recuperating so well. I have a lot of plans but not much forward motion. I need time. Live interrupts. Sharon is at Larry's for the week. She's hunting for an apartment to rent. She wants to be closer to Connie. I hope she gets it done. She is beginning to realize that Connie's battle isn't one that she can win. She will have more help in Emporia than she can get here.
I need to spend at least a week getting ahead of my ko.fi schedule. I hate deadlines. They stress me.

This week, I'm updating my kofi.com site and putting Joshua's memoir on it. I've been working on the buffalo table. I need it done. Dottie gets spayed on Thursday. I see the doctor tomorrow. Dog trainer was here today. We've been working with the dogs on going through the front door without permission. It's been busy.
I hope you're feeling better and rehab goes well. Post when you have time.

I still can only type for a few minutes at a time. I read through my fifth murder mystery to see how much work it needs. I've got ads running on Amazon and spent some time tweaking them today. I have a few sales - not near enough to pay for the ads, but enough to rank me high in one of the categories since I found one that matches but isn't heavily competitive.
I'm doing well but my shoulder still hurts. I go to PT again tomorrow and then back to my surgeon on Tuesday. I'll find out then when they think I can return to work, though there's no way I can type for long periods of time yet.

My plan is to work on my kofi.com site. I'm behind and resisting catching up because of having to rewrite an entire chapter. I hate doing something twice but it has to be done or I'm stagnant in the water and unable to move forward.
Good luck with PT and your check up at the doctor.

Got my first one star review, complaining about the foul language because it's a youth book. I've read a lot of young adult books and the language in mine was mild compared to many. I do have more language than cozy mysteries do so if she would have complained about that it would have been valid. Still, I didn't use the F word and it was only from one character so the reader was easily offiended.

bad reviews happen. I got one once because I had too many characters in my book. I think reviews should just be added together and then averaged. I usually listen to the complaint, then I factor in how may say the same thing. If its jut one or two, I let it go. If it happens repeatedly, then I try to figure out if I'm aiming at the wrong target readers or need to change the genre.

Pretty productive week as far as art goes. Not so good with the writing side. JJ surprised me with a short visit. I was so happy to see him. He left yesterday. He took a ton of food back with him. Apparently living in the woods isn't conducive to creative cooking. I've been working on the cabinet that has been calling to me. I am so excited about it.
I'm going to try and go to Burton either Wednesday or Thursday. I want a birdbath. But I'm picky about what I want. I'll probably stop in Newton at my favorite furniture store. I almost always find something to work on there. I'm still working toward having a viable business by May. I sent in for information to a craft fair in March. It's local and I'm going to see if I can get into it. It would be perfect to hand out brochures in March to advertise the monthly sales May through Oct. I'd sure like to set up in my driveway and keep from having to cart product to different venues. Plus, no entry fees or commissions to pay.
I'm downloading a free office program. Ron is going to help me get a budget that I can live with. I hate numbers.

I didn't realize it had been so long since I've written in here. How does the time get away like that?
I'm struggling with my writing. Grinding along, but I haven't gotten exciting about a project in a long time. I think it's because of everything I have going that's sucking most of my emotional and mental energy. I don't think it will change anytime soon because I have surgery on November 21, which is weighing on me a lot more than I realize, I'm sure. Hopefully early next year I can get my mojo back.
I published my Christmas short story. I should get my copy of the book tomorrow so I'm anxious to see how it turned out. I wanted to find a place to publish it but couldn't find anywhere really that took Christmas stories of its length. It was long for most submissions.
I also have my short story mystery complete but one of my beta readers said it was confusing and not up to the novel standards. I'm not sure what to do with it now. I don't want to publish if it's confusing, though a murder mystery in 8,000 I'm sure is hard to follow.
I'm trying to work on my revision for Rex, the 5th Vetrix series book but like I said, having a hard time.
Depending on when you come, I might be able to meet you if I don't have interviews set up.

I'll let you know. Surgery is always a worry. If you need help, please ask. mental and physical issues take a toll on our creative energy. It took me almost 3 years to write something original. You might consider changing gears. Go in a direction you've never thought of. Maybe memoir, or journaling. Just to get words flowing. With my Luck Donovan character I actually interviewed her. Typed out questions and listened to her answers. I learned a lot about her. I tried the same thing with my newest work. Or, you can slow down and give time to yourself. I'll let you know when we head over there. I was going to go on a Wednesday or Thursday but we've been without water for our second day. We clean the house on Wednesday's and couldn't because we don't have water. A major water main broke and Strong City and Cottonwood Falls are dry. Its a big concern for me. I was thinking how much chaos something we are used to having suddenly isn't there.
I was getting worried about you. Was almost ready to come see you just to make sure you were okay. Hope the shoulder has healed up okay. I'm going to have Lily overnight today. The football game is really far away and she doesn't want to go. The haunted house in Cottonwood Falls is this weekend. Nyla is going to be so glad when its over. Josh is going as a dementor. He wants to help out but I suspect the dark will get to him. Or he might surprise me and have a ball.
Ron and Larry are helping Sharon get her affairs straightened out. She's going to be on really tight budget. Ron is helping me set up a monthly budget on Saturday. Its a mess.
I'm glad you popped in. I worry about you. You, Hank Alan, and Dan were my boys. You probably don't remember but I lived at your house in Valley Center for seven months. Phyllis was pregnant with Susan and it was right before Bob transferred to Texas. I have a lot of fun memories from that time. You were 2, I think. I would write all the names of everybody on a slate. The one that you write on, then lift the page and the writing disappears. I don't know what they are called. But there were about 20 names I would write down. I'd give you a name and you would point it out on the list. You were so much fun to be around.
The house is quiet this morning. We needed the rain but its really dark outside. I'll have to go get Jessica about 9. Nyla is bringing Lily. She'll be working at the old school all day getting last minute details set up. Its a very big event.
Holler if you need me. Or pop over here. You're always welcome.
