When the Time is Right - I got all of my stuff sent to Cat. She said she would have the files tomorrow, so my priority will be to upload files to Amazon and figure out that process again. I haven't published since they bought out CreateSpace. I also finished my book trailer and created a Youtube channel and uploaded it. I sent in info to two different author blogs that will feature my book, and sent the info to a lady who's creating a flyer for me to hang up around town and hand out for the book launch. I have 20 days to go (really 19 since today is practically over). Once I get my proof ordered I need to focus on the event itself.
Three Blind Mice - I got some work done but not as much as I'd like. I'm limited on time, obviously, with the book launch so doing what I can when I can.
Blog - I posted on my blog again this week.
Advent Calendar - submitted my story for the advent calendar.
Sydney won't be at the book launch. She had to take time off at the end of the month instead because she's being transferred to Louisville, KY. So either the last week of Oct or the first of November I will drive a u-haul to Kentucky and help her move. She's excited. I'm mourning, but happy for her.

It is sad to be farther from her. I went through that when Richard transferred to Texas. It's been a busy week but not with any of my stuff. I did get that bathroom fixtures bought except for the shower. It has to be special ordered so I'm googling to find what I want at the best price. I'm on the track of an electrician and somebody to frame in the basement. The landscapers started putting up the dog run. I'll be so glad when I can open up the door and let them out.
Even though I was busy all week, I'm feeling very melancholy. I think some of it is having people around all the time and not getting alone time to work on my projects. I really, really have to find space to work.
I'm going to try to see Marilyn tomorrow. She has lost a lot of weight and is down in the low 120's. She's happy about it. I'm worried because I fear she's not eating very well. I want to see more of her. Sharon too. I just don't seem to have enough time for everything I need to do.
I really liked your trailer. Your getting into territory I never thought of. I'm very interested in the data you pull from it. You'll master the marketing in no time.

When the Time is Right - I got the files uploaded and ordered books for the book launch, now 13 days away. A local youth group agreed to run the haunted house, which I am beyond thrilled about. That piece was overwhelming me and they will do a much better job. Now I can focus on the other details. I have flyers made and handed them out at the arts and craft festival in Halstead yesterday. Lots of people I talked to were excited about the event. Hopefully it means they'll show up! This week I need to hang flyers in stores and have the electronic signs in town start advertising.
Marketing - I set up a vendor booth at the Brick Street Arts and Crafts Fair in Halstead yesterday and handed out flyers. I sold 7 books, which means I actually made more than the vendor fee. Yay!
Three Blind Mice - I read through what I have and made some notes. It needs a lot of work and I hope to get some writing of needed scenes done. My goal is to get a complete rough draft done by the end of October so I can let it sit for a few weeks before I revise. I'm committed to publishing in May. It says so in the back of my new book, so I can't back out.

I'm still juggling schedules for everybody but me. Having issues with the help. The downside of hiring family, I guess. Rhonda and Jacob are coming in on the 23rd. I think Josh, Nyla?, Rhonda, and I will show up at the book signing. That's the plan anyway. We'll bring something, probably cookies but I can get bags of candy if you'd rather. Whatever we can do to help, just give us a job.
Marilyn wants copies of all the books so I'll probably be buying some. I think the venue sounds like a really fun time. Joshua is excited to get out of the house.
I had JJ read my synopsis of what I'm calling Cosmic Justice and said it sounded good. I'm going to start getting that in order. I need it written. It's been too long since I wrote anything new. And Lucky is really pushing at me. I am going to have to figure out a space, and a time, and make everybody, including myself, respect it so I can get back to being productive.

I have two things I still need so i can give you a choice. I have someone making cookies, but I'm worried it won't be enough. You could either bring snacks to supplement what we have or I also need some goodie bags made to give to kids who show up. You want either of those? I have people at church I can ask on Sunday if neither works out.

How many goodie bags do you need? I can work on those during the week if you give me an idea of how many to make up and what you want in them. I can provide candy treats but do you want bookmarks or anything? I have a printer so I could print some things off on card stock or something. I'll do whatever you need us to do. I'm really excited. I think your book trailer was a very good idea.

I was thinking candy for the goodie bags, but I like the idea of a book mark. Are you able to print create the bookmark as well as print? Or can you take my book cover and print it on a bookmark? I'm guessing between 50-100? It's hard to know.

Send me a picture of the book cover and I'll see what I can come up with. I'd love to try. I'll see what I can come up with for goodie bags.

When the Time is Right - Well, I met with the youth group and turned them loose on the haunted house. They are excited and we are meeting at the hospital on Thursday to set up. The first box of books arrived on Friday, so if nothing else at least I have some books to sell! I put up flyers, have handed them out, but an ad in the paper and wrote my column about it. I've been pushing on Facebook. I've had a lot of positive response to the event, so we'll see what kind of turn out I get. Still a lot to do, but I feel like it's all doable at this point. Three Blind Mice - I'm up to 45,000. I don't know if I'll get every scene written before I move on to Nano prep the last week of Oct, but I should have a lot of it written. I plan to return to it in December to work on revision and will finish what scenes I need then. I'm sure I'll have more I need to write as I revise. I think I need to come publish two mysteries in the series each year. I don't know if that's enough to keep interest and momentum (I wish I knew what it would take), but I think that's what I'm going to try. That will allow me to still write other stuff, at least theoretically. NaNo - I can't decide if I will write a Christmas story, a middle grade horror story, or work on the 5th Vetrix book. I have ideas and want to do all three. Ugh!

I tried to write this evening. I printed off what I could of Lucky's story. I still can't access the info on the old computer. I think I could if I could get it connected with the internet. I want to do a polished intro, and first chapter and then ask on Holly's board if somebody will give it a read to see if the hook is strong enough and the format works. Writing two stories at once is going to be tricky and having the origins dark, and the contemporary not so dark is going to be tricky.
I also want to start writing the 3rd Cosmic book. I think I can do them simultaneously as long as I have solid scene cards. They are different enough that the middle grade fantasy/SF will give me a break from the darker adult contemporary. I intended to write Lucky as a mystery and stay away from the urban fantasy feel. Not sure if I can pull it off. But it is different and my dark stuff isn't graphically horrible. It is but not in a horror kind of way. At least, I don't intend it to be.
I'll get you some candy bags to hand out. I'll try to get something printed off. Not sure if I have enough time to do the bookmarks but I was thinking of doing a tag for the candy handouts that has the book cover and maybe a list of all your books and website address or facebook page or whatever social media info you want readers to check out. Let me know.

Any kind of candy bags will work, and if you can include something related to my writing, even better! I don't really do anything with social media other than Facebook. I have accounts, but don't keep up, so my website and Facebook should suffice.

okay, I'll do my best. I'm not sure what Rhonda's plans are but Nyla and I and Josh are planning on being there. I'll try to get there early and help.

I'm halfway through getting a polished chapter of Journals from Luciana. A Lucky Donovan mystery. The first book I'm calling Bite Me. Both for what it says but also for the slang term when somebody is annoyed and tells the other person to bite me. The protag doesn't suffer fools lightly. She's a bit cranky and doesn't like to be outside her comfort zone.
I think the format of splitting each chapter between Luciana's journal entry and the second half of the chapter being her present day existence will work if I can find the right fonts for each half and clearly identify to the reader where they are.
I'm still not working up to speed but I'm working. I'll take it.
